About AfriHOPE Missions, INC.

AfriHOPE Missions, INC. is a non-profit Christian organization committed to integrity, honesty, faithfulness and accountability.

It is our objective to join many others who are already involved in the process of re-kindling and re-building HOPE for a generation that continues to live in abject poverty and what appears like a never-ending spiral of social, moral and intellectual decay. We are committed to re-discovering and putting to good use the talents and resources which God has so richly endowed us through His infinite mercy and goodness. Our hope is not in ourselves or in our abilities but our hope depends upon the righteousness of Christ who is our solid foundation and author and finisher of our faith.

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord"

"Plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and future" {Jeremaiah 29:11}

About The Founders

"Dr. Douglas and Mrs. Esther Yeboah-Awusi are the Founders of AfriHOPE Missions (Ghana). Douglas and Esther have been married since October 1986 with three children: Irene, Theresa and Joshua. Douglas has held the dream to study in the USA since 1972 to prepare to serve his people in Ghana. This dream took Douglas to Germany, Libya, the Ivory Coast and Italy until the Lord opened the door for him and his wife and daughter Irene (born in Italy) to travel to the United States of America in August 1988 to begin his studies at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest, North Carolina."

The Founders have studied quite well for the ministry they put together through the help of God. Esther has Associate of Science, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing and currently practices as Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania, USA. Esther is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Esther has served as Nursing Supervisor at several acute care Geriatric facilities in the State of Pennsylvania.

Douglas has Associate of Divinity, Bachelor of Science, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry (Marriage & Family Therapy) and Doctor of Philosophy (Human Resource Management Development). Douglas took a one year Clinical Pastoral Education at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served two churches in Philadelphia, PA and Bala Cynwyd, Pa for a total of five years between 1992 and 1997.

Douglas worked for Bethanna, a Foster Care Social Service Agency, as Case Management worker for about two years before becoming a prison Chaplain. For seven and one-half years before he retired from active service in the USA in January of 2006, Douglas was the Facility Chaplaincy Program Director with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution at Chester, PA.

Our children have been a very good part of our journey to this point. They spend time to pray for the ministry especially during our Saturday Family Prayer Breakfast meetings. Our children have been very supportive of my stay in Ghana while they remain in the US to pursue their education as Douglas works hard in Ghana to develop the ministry there.

Douglas and Esther Yeboah-Awusi are committed to the service they render to the people of Ghana as they are committed to each other. Family is important to the Founders hence their commitment to help desperate and needy families in the rural communities where they serve.

Serving in rural communities in Ghana can have its own challenges which may be peculiar to those communities. The Founders are ever determined to face such challenges knowing quite well that the God who has called and equipped them shall provide them with needed strength to perform the tasks ahead of them. They face many afflictions but the Lord delivers them from all such afflictions.

The Founders continue to be encouraged by the declaration God made to His people who lacked hope and a future in the days of the Prophet Jeremiah.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah)
